GreenDisk Helps with Tech Recycling!
GreenDisk offers technology recycling. As a geek, I have tons of old computer equipment, CDs from old software and games, etc. I usually donate as much as I can to local charities, but when it’s completely useless (CD-R, advertising CDs, etc), then I need a good place to dump it - and nowhere locally took CDs. GreenDisk to the rescue. For a reasonable price ($40), you can load up 70lbs of tech crap and send it to them. They give you a big box, you fill it up, and the shipping is covered. Not a bad deal if you can’t find anything locally.

Edit: RecyclingCDs.com also looks like an option for CDs and DVDs.
Saturn Aura Hybrid for Under $23K
Jalopnik reports that Saturn is releasing the Aura Green Line Hybrid car for under $23,000, making it the lowest-priced hybrid. I don’t know why they haven’t reached the $20k mark yet, but they need to. It’s a good start…though.
Kudos to GM for not only finally bringing a sedan to the market to compete with the Camry — the Aura won NorAm Car of the Year — but then for bringing a hybrid model to the market. Oh and probably some more green-love today for pricing it below any other hybrid you can buy today. They’ve just announced pricing on the mean-grean four-door machine, and it’s got an out-the door MSRP of $22,695.2 comments
GreenDimes and TerraPass: Easy Planet Saving
TerraPass has a nice profile of GreenDimes on their blog. Thought I’d profile both companies for you. Both have a lot to offer consumers in ways to help the environment. TerraPass offers various “passes” that offset carbon emissions.
The first step you can take to fight global warming is to reduce your carbon footprint through conservation. Drive less. Turn down the thermostat. Buy locally produced goods. Then use TerraPass to reduce your carbon footprint all the way to zero.
When you buy a TerraPass, your money funds renewable energy projects such as wind farms. These projects result in verified reductions in greenhouse gas pollution. And these reductions counterbalance your own emissions.
Basically by combining your own efforts with a TerraPass, their goal is to get your “carbon footprint” down to zero. They have multiple options for home, road, and flight, so check it out.
Check out the TerraPass article on GreenDimes…
GreenDimes stops your junk mail, plain and simple. Buy a pass, and GreenDimes will take you and your household off of mailing lists for catalogs, credit card offers, and more. On top of that, they’ll plant a tree for you every month that you are a member.
Unbelievably, we chop down 100,000,000 trees and waste 28 billion gallons of water EVERY YEAR producing this stuff. Most of this goes straight to the trash or recycling bin.For $4 a month, GreenDimes will reduce the marketing at your home, help you maintain your privacy and plant a bunch of trees on your behalf.
I joined less than two months ago, and I’ve already received notifications of stopped catalogs…it’s great, not too expensive, and it’s good for the environment.
Happy Planet Saving!
